The body of water in front of Bellano, between the Centre and the “Alto Lario” (Upper Lario), offers an ideal regatta course thanks to the wind patterns and the width of the stretch of lake water: the spot benefits from favorable weather conditions to the practice of the sailing sport, as the constant presence of a thermal breeze (the Breva), present year round (in particular in the Summer months), starts blowing in a southerly direction around midday and remains constant throughout the day.
The Palasole of bellano is a multipurpose facility. This leisure infrastructure is situated on a side of the lake with a position that offers an enchanting view of the lake and it sunsets. The infrastructure, together with the surrounding lawns, can be hired out to private or associations, for parties, weddings, small fairs, etc…, in a heavily frequented location.
Pesa Vegia is a must see during the Christmas holidays when, each year, an event steeped in over 400 years of history is re-enacted for visitors on January 5th, keeping the legend and magic intact. Many are the legends and assumptions that have arisen over the years regarding the birth of this centuries-old event. Recent research by Antonio Rusconi — published in the book entitled Pesa Vegia tra leggenda e realtà (Pesa Vegia: legend and myth) — has found documentation indicating that the origins most likely date to about 1605, the year in which the Governor Pedro Acevedo, Count of Fuentes issued an edict abrogating a previous reform of 1604 and reinstating the old units of measure (and hence the name Pesa Vegia or old weight).
Il Sentiero del Viandante is an old mule track dating from the Roman period, following the oriental coast of Lake Como, along the mountains’ lower slopes. This path extols the masterly equilibrium between humane activity and nature. It exposes agglomerates of rustic stone houses, old mill ruins, countless chapels and little mountain churches, terraces cultivated with vineyards and olive trees. The old route connects the municipalities and valleys of our territory, and is signaled by orange information signs. Many hiking enthusiasts cross it in stages, savoring every moment of evasion, immersed in an environment rich of beautiful views blending the lake with the sky.
